The Glasgow Guide to Reuse, is the definitive guide to eco shopping in the Dear Green Place.
The handy ‘Green Map’ features over 100 community enterprises and charity shops that accept donations and sell a wide range of reusable goods including: clothing, furniture, electricals, carpet and wood.
“This is the first time that comprehensive information about locally available reuse opportunities has been collated and published in such an accessible format. Said the project’s coordinator Hannah Clinch of Radius Glasgow. “A similar mapping initiative in Edinburgh helped raise the profile of Reuse projects and significantly increased the levels of donations, sales and volunteers. We aim to duplicate this success for Glasgow.”
Working with a dedicated team of volunteers, Radius Glasgow produced the map with support from various agencies including The Glasgow Community Recycling Forum, SUST and Generous City.
The project links Glasgow to the globally recognised Green Map System, adopted in over 300 places around the world including New York, London, Tokyo and the wee county of Clackmannanshire. Green Maps help people make more sustainable choices by promoting green resources on a map using a unique icon system. Green Maps can highlight bike lanes, community gardens, historic buildings, green spaces anything relevant to the community creating the map. This map focuses on Reuse to try and kick-start the city into preserving resources more effectively.
