This project has had its ups and downs, but happily, it's now on path to completion! Dar Wolnik is heading the Green Map project in post-Katrina New Orleans with support from Dan Yan Au in Boston. The project is focused on creating a food map for the region, since the local food situation has become so critical since the levee breaks.

Working with food justice organization New Orleans Food and Farm Network, Dar is helping to gather the information about what food is available in the area. She is also helping NOFFN and volunteers create temporary neighborhood maps to show citizens what fresh food is available now. Those maps will help Dar and her work organization MarketUmbrella.org create the published Green Map that will not only show food and its availability, but also origins of important traditional foods for New Orleans and sustainable farming sites in the area.
