Based in New York City since program inception, Green Map System's workspace has evolved as the global program grew. From our founder's Lower East Side living room to its own space in the same building on Ludlow Street (1995-2002) to our bright (but noisy and uninsulated) office around the corner on Essex Street (2002-2006) to our wonderfully expansive and harmonious space in the East Village (2006 - present), Green Map's office has helped us work effectively in support of communities of all kinds around the world.
Happily, we are now based in the historic Cornelia Connelly Center at 220A East 4 th Street (along with a middle school and two theaters). This 1890's brick building has fine original details, such as high tin ceiling and oak flooring. It also has modern green touches – it is wind-powered (thanks to Community Wind and we have a worm bin composter, recycling bins, water filter, wireless network and are careful about our use of energy, materials, and resources. Most of us bike to work, commuting up to 10 miles. And much of the furnishings are reused (thanks to Materials for the Arts , Blue Line Construction, Duce Construction Corporation, Craig Baumhoffer and Catholic Big Sisters & Brothers) and our space was carefully restored and outfitted by Race Age Inc. and Andrew Zalewski.
Visitors are welcome by appointment only. Please contact us to arrange.

Our location is 220A East 4th Street, between Avenues A & B in NYC's East Village. The building has a blue banner and 5 front doors! Look for the door with our big green logo on it (if you get to the theater, you have gone too far). Ring, and we'll buzz you up to the 3rd floor.
Closest subway: F or V at 2nd Avenue Station. Exit from downtown end of train and you're at Houston & 1st Ave. (or across Houston at Allen). Go north to 4th St and right 1.5 blocks to our door. (8 minute walk)
F, M & J to Essex-Delancey Station is almost as close. Go north on Essex 3 blocks, cross Houston, and it becomes Ave A. Continue straight until 4th St, and turn right. 220 A is mid-block.
Buses: From 14th St, the 14A (goes down Ave A) & the 9 (along Ave B) come to our corner. Bus 21 runs along Houston, too.
Bikes: avoid hazardous Houston St., and lock out front or carry up to the 3rd floor.
More: There's a parking lot (gated, please arrange in advance). Accessible elevator, too!
