The newest green map project in Yogyakarta city is Green Map Malioboro. This project has been started in November 2011. January 2012 will be launched. Students of architecture of Univeritas Teknologi Yogyakarta (UTY) in collaboration with students of Design of Visual Communication of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta have been organizing several surveys and two heritage trails during December 2011. The first edition of Green Map Malioboro published in 2003, made by highs school students of Yogyakarta. The 2011 project has a tag line "Woro Moro Malioboro". Woro means news and moro means come in Javanese language. Malioboro, you know, a famous business district in Yogyakarta. More pics will be uploaded.

They learned to map this kampung (neighborhood level at the city of Yogyakarta) using green map for their holiday program.

This event was held from 1 to 2 May 2010 in two different places; The Faculty of Geography Universitas Gadjah Mada (FG - UGM) Yogyakarta and in Kotagede heritage district. We organized this event in collaboration with the Laboratory of Participatory Planning and Community Development FG - UGM. Speakers at the seminar talked about the strategic ideas and plan to empower the process of participatory mapping in Indonesia. We had the experts from the university, the head of National Survey and Mapping Agency, the Tactile Map researchers, and the Indonesian Green Mapmakers as the speakers. About 70 participants attended to this seminar.

We continue the seminar with the workshop on Green Mapmaking. The workshop started after the seminar. The theory and the principals of participatory for the social mapping have been delivered to the participants in the first day of the workshop. The second day of the workshop held in Kotagede heritage district; located in the Kampung Pekaten, Kotagede. We organized this field workshop with Kanthil Kotagede Foundation, the local NGO partner. About 40 participants participated to this workshop; consist of the under-graduated students, graduate students, governmental agency staff, and the practitioners.

We had a very important guest, Masahiro-san from Tokyo. He gave a presentation on Bicycle Green Map project all around the world.

This kick-off workshop were carried out as the start of the one year project. The Green Map Project on Transportation Management in Yogyakarta will be focused on the pedestrian, bicycle, and public transportation in Yogyakarta.

Krijn Christiaansen and Ingrid Mol, two artists from Nederland, had a research idea to analyze the design of public space of the kampong (the neighborhood area) in Yogyakarta. They want to make a models of specific situation and looking for the meaning of certain sculptures, murals, entrance gate, etc. The models will be presented in an exhibition about bottom-up and top-down planning in the Architecture Center Stroom, The Hague, Nederland, in September). Green Map Yogyakarta team help them to explore the kampong; Ledok Jagalan and Badran. That was our second time working together. The first time was the "What about Cultural Heritage" workshop, held in Yogyakarta last January 2008.

This old mosque of Muhammadiyah was build in 1938 by the Muhammadiyah activist with the support of silver merchants, so that people call it Silver Mosque (Masjid Perak).

Green Map Yogyakarta team became the facilitator of Heritage Trail Workshop in Kotagede, Yogyakarta; organized by Senthir Yogyakarta. The workshop was held in Kotagede and the discussion located in the traditional house, Omah Loring Pasar, the office of Kanthil Kotagede Foundation. The participants were coming from some cities,i.e. Solo, Surabaya, Bandung, Borobudur, and Yogyakarta. We developed a model of heritage trail program based on the paradigm of sustainable and/or responsible tourism as the goal of the workshop. We will continue the development of the program next year, hand in hand with Kanthil Kotagede Foundation, Senthir, and the universities.
