Temporaly missing
In 2001, we directed the eco-transportation and bicycle initiatives of the Environmental Policy Department’s "Miyako Agenda 21 Forum." of Kyoto City. 3000 copies of our pocket-sized Kyoto Bicycle Route Map were published in 2001. Derived from our first map, it charts four suggested cycling courses and plots hotels that welcome bikes, repair and rental shops, bicycle etiquette, hospital locations (in case of accident), public toilets and bicycle parking lots.
This map was made as a part of the pilot project of Miyako-no-Agenda Forum to promote the sustainable transportation system of Kyoto city. Our activities led to start the Velo Taxi service and one coin bus (=¥100) in the central area. Rental bikes delivering service called KCTP (They deliver your favorite bikes to the place you like and you can leave bikes anywhere you like) also started by the influence of this map. KCTP was given the annual grand prize of Kyoto venture business in 2002. Some hotels always prepare free bikes for tourists as well since then. And from 2005 Kyoto city has started to examine a settingup of LRT.
