At Green Map, we're usually happy to be connected to a big event, such as the EXPO in Aichi Japan in 2005. We feel Green Map helps the event become greener and increases the number of people involved both locally and globally.
Most recently, the US's biggest (and edgiest) arts festival, Burning Man, got started on a Green Map to chart the remarkable convergences of eco and experimental/experiential art at the end of August each year. At BurningMan.com, they say:
"Thousands of participants gather to create Black Rock City in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, dedicated to self-expression, self-reliance, and art as the center of community. They leave one week later, having left no trace."
The Green Man is their theme of the year, described in this Worldchanging.com post, and on this interview on Treehugger Radio.
Thanks to Karina OConnor and team, the Burning Man Green Map was published in a short few weeks - you can download the PDF linked to this page, or read more on their Green Map Profile.
We hope this Green Map helps the 40,000 expected participants bring home the spirit expressed onsight. And we welcome other arts and cultural events who might wish to connect with the Green Map movement!
