Today, we had a great time presenting at the Klimaforum. We had at least 10 countries - from Eqypt to New Zealand - represented in the audience and time for good questions and exchanges. Our speakers came from 5 countries - Sweden, Indonesia, Taiwan, Denmark and US, and each told a remarkable story about their community's Green Map projects.
It was quite moving for me, as the global Green Map project was initiated in Copenhagen in 1995, when I was invited to the UN's Social Summit. It was during the o2 Global Network meeting that followed that our program got rolling.
Today, we not only have 614 locally-led projects in 55 countries, we also have a new mobile version of the Open Green Map that we launched today. Yes, it's the simple 'alpha' version, but we are delighted that anyone with an internet enabled mobile phone can simply type in GreenMap.org, and see What's Green Nearby™! Try it and see if it helps you discover green living resources near your home or as you travel. We'll be refining it more and creating a richer mobile website soon - it's designed to help all users of mobile phones, even the most basic, not just those with a specific brand.
Many thanks to our board members, staff and technical team who collaboratively developed this new resource!
Our pictures and images from the day are not the best, but I will place them below. And here is a bit from a blog posted by a young man who took part in our Klimaforum session:
"I found a project I fell in love with instantly! It's called greenmaps.org and I felt so inspired! It's about producing maps with different themes (from biking lanes, to community change, to green business, to unused resources for low income people) and using them to educate the public. There was a really good presentation by a Taiwanese company, Delta, which produce 40% of the world's laptop adaptors. They have shown on maps where employers can reduce energy consumption (for example by taking the steps instead of the lift), by how much, and how much CO2, and other similar things. The project is based in New York and they take interns! It was started in the 1995 Social Forum in Copenhagen and it has spread now to more than 55 cities around the world."

After our presentation and lunch, we walked over to the City Hall square, where Malmo Sweden's great efforts to green up were showcased in a small pavilion. Here we discuss some of the featured innovations.
Using the live feed from the Bambuser.com system, this video includes audience discussion during the presentations by Marco and Wim (low resolution)
