A great new year is underway at Green Map System!
We're so pleased to complete 2009 with a record number of new Green Map projects - 119 new locally-led efforts got underway, a 33% increase in the rate of registrations. A number of factors contribute to this increase:
• more people realizing they can and must take leadership locally for climate protection, sustainability and a healthier environment.
• the Open Green Map, our new social mapping platform that removes the financial, technological and time barriers to publishing an interactive, always available Green Map.
• wonderful outreach by Mapmakers and recognition from media worldwide.
• other new tools and resources we offer, including our new Services section.
We're especially pleased that over 100 maps are available on the Open Green Map platform! This participatory website and our network has just received a new honor, we are shortlisted for the Living Labs Global Showcase Award!
With 2010 being our 15th year, you can help make it even more effective as we work harder every day to support inclusive participation in sustainable community development:
