About the Map:

Coming to the of Thailand's National Park Year we produced this map because we feel that you should know the current state of Thailand's remaining forests.

This map is to be published annually and your recommendations just may be listed on the next publication.

Thailand's National Park Green Map was published in January 2001, and this remote sensing aerial photo map covered the widest area of any Green Map to date! With text in both Thai and English, many interesting details about the country's parks and natural heritage are highlighted. A student competition was held to design the cover. There were 152,000 copies of the map (both folding maps and posters) published and distributed to schools, in the Sunday Bangkok Post, to new car owners, and through tourist information. In 2002, even more copies were distributed! This project is led by David Tarrant, eco-tourism specialist with Project Eco Co. Ltd., along with several supporters and the Thai Green Network Foundation. The draft version was presented to the public at the World Environment Day Exhibition at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre on June 5, 2000.

In July 2002, this project sponsored workshops and meetings coinciding with a visit from Green Map System's director and education outreach specialist. 30 eco-educators gathered to discuss potential new projects.

In 2005, Thailand Environment Institute took on the project - marvelous things have happened!

The San Juan Islands Green Map graphically depicts the areas of ecological significance, solutions and models for sustainability found within the natural borders of our unique island community. This project is motivated by a desire to identify the green aspects of our community that need to be replicated and further promoted. Additionally the map will not just increase awareness of positive solutions, but also draw attention to environmental challenges that we as a community face.

Nagakute Green Map, Aichi

</fieldset>

<fieldset class="collapsible collapsed"><legend>Map Details</legend>

About the Map:

In Nagakute City the number of residents are increasing because the city is becoming a bedroom suburb of Nagoya City, however, new residents does not feel interested in their own city so much. Therefore, “Green Map Nagakute” was created in collaboration with public administration for the purpose of discovering/informing local good things.

As part of the activity, we walk around the city and inform local resources to neighborhoods. Besides, through the event “Take Tourou Nagashi” contributed to enhancing cooperation/network with local residents and leaded to creation of new power for town planning.

Mapmaker Mr. Nakajima said “We want to engage in the theme ‘How new residents get involved in historical things and humans’ after Aichi EXPO 2005.” Walking around the city is exciting all the better for the difficulty of solving the problem. They aim to proceed sustainable development in Nagakute City by sharing the information of the Green Map.

There are no updates on this project.

Tagline/Slogan:

Ngakute City was the event site of 2005 Aichi EXPO and we introduce this wonderful city by mapping both western region adjacent to Nagoya City and eastern countryside holding mountain area. Our Green Map contributes to conservation of present nature environment.

About the Map:

The Higashi-Fukuoka Green Map is online, despite a massive earthquake hitting Japan's southern island in March 2005. Created by Keiichiro Masuda and Econet-Fukuoka. The group had completed the first view of the map shortly before the earthquake, but since many sites were damaged, they are now in the process of re-investigating each. With its detailed views, this Green Map can help in the preservations of these sites. Furthermore, maps of each elementary school zone in Higashi-Fukuoka are being added, as are sites that encourage resource circulation (reuse and recycling) as well as awareness of pollution.

About the Map:

Our school project was adopted as “Modern Educational Needs Support Program” by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. We created Takaoka Green Map within this program. Junior collage students created this map in Japanese, English, and Chinese as part of their classes.

As Takaoka is famous for a “manufacturing city,” we can find a lot of places and goods that are related to traditional handicraft when we walk around our city. This map is best suited to town walking with touching traditional handicraft around casting and lacquer craft in Takaoka.

We created 2 local icons that show traditional handicraft. Though they are the same design, we changed their colors to show casting and lacquer craft. The name of the map is “Handicraft Exploration Edition.”

We hope that people use our maps to get familiar with Takaoka City, Toyama that treasures not only traditional handicraft, but also history, culture and public art with maps in their hands.

There are no updates on this project.

Our theme is environmentally conscious tourism including reduction of CO2 emission. We create maps for sightseeing in Takaoka City by using bicycles and public transportation facilities.
