About this Mapmaker

One Montgomery Green (OMG) brings diverse perspectives from businesses, residents and government to catalyze Montgomery County’s transition to a sustainable economy and facilitate environmental responsibility.

Statement of Purpose

One Montgomery Green (OMG) will map green and local resources and solutions that already exist and identify new and under-served opportunities. Using the existing, successful Green Maps platform, OMG will identify sustainable and green-oriented companies, other organizations and resources in specific sectors county-wide, with an emphasis on Silver Spring and Wheaton, Maryland.

Local Language Overview

In 2016 GreenWheaton Inc and Silver Spring Green Inc, concerned with duplication of efforts, duplication of overhead and leveraging relationships began a merger process to form one entity: One Montgomery Green (OMG). As part of its 2016-17 Strategic Plan, OMG will map green resources and solutions that already exist and identify new and underserved opportunities to grow green solutions. Using the existing, successful Green Maps platform, OMG will identify sustainable and green-oriented companies, other organizations and resources in specific sectors county-wide, with an emphasis on Silver Spring and Wheaton. The goal of the mapping is multifaceted. Residents and business leaders will be able to access information through an online website and printed materials. The mapping will enable OMG to connect the dots and forge partnerships that strengthen locally based supply chains, engage consumers and help to build critical mass for sustainability across entire value chains. It will help OMG identify connections, patterns and opportunities within business sectors and ways to allocate, organize and share resources, thus increasing economic resilience. Based on the mapping, OMG will develop marketing campaigns and programs that raise sustainability awareness and increase participation county-wide and regionally. These efforts will be conducted collaboratively with other organizations and partners in the form of design teams and working groups. We believe OMG will be a strong and collaborative partner to the County’s Executive Office, Departments and Agencies
