Starting in 2010, Saltwater Connections partners in the villages along the Outer Banks Scenic Byway began talking about ways to increase the region’s economic prosperity by building upon, rather than sacrificing, our cherished cultural and natural heritage: an asset-based economic development strategy. The Saltwater Connections GreenMap Project is assisting our communities in identifying cultural, natural and business assets.
