Hakodate is getting smaller. It’s facing a shrinking population, industries and businesses. People in our communities understand this Shrinking Syndrome and are find innovative cultural solutions through the knowledge of longtime residents, who have seen both the growth and decline of Hakodate City. We have been making our Green Map to find both positive and negative aspects of the city. “Hakodate Slow Map” is an innovative project for our new city, the “Shrinking City Hakodate”.

ハコダテ・スローマップのプロジェクトは2002年秋より開始、03年春に最初のバージョンを印刷物とウェブサイトで公開。ついで04年夏にはウェブサイトの新しいバージョンを試験公開しました。今回、新たにハコダテが直面する「縮小」に対抗する知恵のネットワークづくりの活動の一環として、スローマップの新たなバージョンの制作に着手します。これは、従来同様、ウェブサイトと印刷物の連携を目指しますが、同時に「スローライフ」をコンセプトとした派生的なプロジェクトも展開していく計画です。
