Despite currently a "two man show", it will hopefully develop into a dynamic and creative ecomap network. After a first attempt of a greenmap project for Oeiras in 2004, that won a prize in a local contest, and was to be the first in Portugal, it is now re-engaged with renewed motivation. We will base our dynamics in learning facilities, for spread of information and engagement, and rely on the colaboration of the Council of Oeiras, and of the previous greenmap initiator as Art director.
The purpose of the Map is a) to engange as many as possible in a participatory process oriented for present and future of local sustainability b) to raise awareness about the local environmental problems, as well as to give credit to positive initiatives, c)to focus on learning institutions (pre-school, schools, universities) as first pillar for the project dynamics, spread of information and engagement d) to focus on local sustainability initiatives / businesses, cultural initiatives, historical heritage, social status; e) to adress the following categories: energy, water/wastewater, solid waste, biodiversity/green areas, social justice, globalization and fair trade.
Embora presentemente um projecto de dimensão individual, espera-se que venha a tornar-se uma rede de ecomapa dinâmica e criativa, tomando como base de disseminação da informação e envolvimento as instituições de ensino locais e contando com o apoio da Junta de Freguesia de Oeiras.
