Rockland County is part of the suburban regions around NY City where you get the best out of two worlds; the close proximity to the city is balanced with the vast expanses of park and farmland. Rockland County has the second largest state park, Harriman, and has a huge amount of green space considering it is so close to the city and considering it is a small county. This region currently experiences population growth, which puts pressure on the existing green areas, undeveloped land, and infrastructure. We think a green map here would inspire people to take care of our green resources.

The founding group consisted of environmentally concerned neighbors and friends who met because we wanted to find and share ecological resources in our community. We wanted to contribute to saving Earth by raising awareness about sustainable living. It is our hope that providing a green map will make it easier for Rockland County residents and visitors to find and use ecological resources. In this way, we can all do our share to help preserve the planet and our natural resources in these difficult times.
