Double Donations on June 13 – help Green Map Work Smarter

Now benefiting communities in 65 countries, Green Map System invites you to take part in an exciting Double Match Day – give early and double your donation. Give $10, and Green Map receives $20. Give $50 for a $100 match. Your donations up to $1,000 are doubled this Wednesday, June 13!

Starting at midnight, about 12 hours from now*, click goto.gg/1965 and contribute with a credit card or Paypal on the GlobalGiving platform, where Green Map System is a Superstar! Global Giving will add 50% and an anonymous donor will top it up to 100%. Give early on Wednesday morning while matching funds last and tell your friends!

This Match Day is so important. We hope you can contribute and let your friends know how our organization builds capacity for the participatory development of smarter, healthier and greener communities.

Maps are a powerful form of media. Now in 65 countries, local Green Mapmaking teams are using our adaptable tools and technologies to share insights about green living and their home’s unique natural and cultural environment. Your contributions will help our award-winning organization work smarter and support more communities, collaborations and tools. A few examples:

  • Japan, where participatory mapmaking is bridging the need to reduce energy usage and regenerate community spirit at a time of crisis with projects including Cool Share, co-created by Masahiro Horiuchi of Tokyo Green Map,
  • Cape Town South Africa where the fourth printed Green Map edition in three years is bridging economic and environmental initiatives,
  • New Jersey, where several towns are bridging gaps in crucial information with interactive Open Green Maps, exchanging ideas and outcomes).

The original Green Map of NYC was inspired by the Earth Summit. Now Rio+20, its 20th anniversary event, is nearly upon us. Our practical approach has blossomed during this period and with your help, we have impacted 816 communities. All over the world, the maps and the mapmaking process have proven their value as they guide the way to healthier local economies and environments. Please take action and extend these impacts today!

* Global Giving’s Match starts precisely at 12:01AM EDT. Give late at night or in the morning of Wednesday, June 13 before the matching fund pool runs dry. (If you are in Asia, wait until 1PM.
