The Wheeling Heritage Trail is part of a growing network of former rail lines converted into improved and semi-improved bicycle and backpacking trails that run through several states and even into the DC Metro Region. The displayed map was produced by Hope Coffield of the Wheeling Jesuit University Center for Educational Technology. It provides a view of current and proposed lines running through the area of Wheeling, West Virginia. It is the ultimate local destination for runners, bikers and hikers who seek the thrill of exploring the rugged Appalachian region characterized by idyllic small towns and scenery that reminds one of the American frontier.
