New York's Story 1992 describes the "dawn" of the Green Map concept, way back in 1991. The original Green Apple Map was created in the lead up to the United Nations Earth Summit. It encouraged visitors and residents to view New York City in a completely different light. That original Green Apple Map inspired a positive response by its users, leading to the organization of the global Green Map System in 1995.
