About the Map:

Led by young parents, we have gathered information during a series of events where we will exchange clothing and toys, share stories and ideas, and collectively record some of the services and spaces we benefit from. The finished map will be available on YouthCore's website (http://www.youthcore.ca) as well as in print. It will not only be a useful tool for easily locating specific sites, but also be a visual narrative of young parents' experiences as a community.

The Australian Toilet Map

<fieldset class="collapsible"><legend>The Australian Toilet Map</legend>

Created by:

Sydney Greenmapper for Disability and Social Access

</fieldset>

<fieldset class="collapsible collapsed"><legend>Map Details</legend>

About the Map:

Whilst this map is not strictly a GreenMap, It does address a concern of greenmapping which is access to sites by the elderly, those with disabilities and those with families.

The National Public Toilet Map (the Map) shows the location of more than 14,000 public and private public toilet facilities across Australia. Details of toilet facilities can also be found along major travel routes and for shorter journeys as well. Useful information is provided about each toilet, such as location, opening hours, availability of baby change rooms, accessibility for people with disabilities and the details of other nearby toilets.

The Map is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing as part of the National Continence Management Strategy.
What does the Map do?

The Map provides toilet information for the estimated 3.8 million Australians who are affected by incontinence:

    * information on the nearest public toilet
    * the capacity to plan short and longer journeys
    * improves independence and quality of life
    * is convenient for people with young families

The Map is a useful tool for anyone undertaking a trip or holiday by providing information on suitable toilet breaks before the journey begins.

The Map:

    * details opening hours
    * assists in finding toilets in a town/suburb
    * identifies toilets that can be accessed by people with a disability
    * assists planning a trip or holiday with suitable toilet and rest breaks known before the journey begins
    * assists planning a trip around town or between towns and cities

Dubai is a unique city, very rich and diversified in population nationalities, cultures and interests. Its geographic location and insightful rulers' futuristic vision made it a strategic crossroad between East and West, and a civilizations blending place as well.
Dubai Green Map project is intended to draw the attention of people living in Dubai and its visitors, to the importance of many Green sites and attractions of the city, the need to expand Green areas and applications, and the positive impacts of Green practices over the city’s environment and future generations healthy and sustainable living.
Green Maps of other parts of the country will hopefully follow in the near future.

About the Map:

The Portsmouth Green Map was conceived and created as a partnership between Portland Green Map, a citywide community mapping organization, Portsmouth Vision 20/20, a community development organization located in the Portsmouth Neighborhood, and the Science Club at Portsmouth Middle School. Over the course of several months, students at Portsmouth Middle School used GIS (Geographic Information System) software to create maps of their neighborhood that incorporate environmental assets and special features. This is the product of their work, a map of Portsmouth neighborhood, for the Portsmouth neighborhood, created by the students of Portsmouth Middle School.

This map is meant to show Portsmouth Neighborhood residents interesting information about environmental sites in and around the neighborhood. The icons, which have been used on Green Maps all over the world, mark the locations of certain types of sites in the neighborhood, from good places to see the autumn leaves to local contaminated sites.

About the Map:

Mapmaker Mr. Kawai is a lover of maps and had created local walking maps with the themes of history and culture before. When he heard about Green Map, he decided to create maps of the same region he made but from a different standpoint.
As to “Showa-Ku Green Map,” citizens and local government cooperate to engage in this project.

They share their roles, for example, citizens mainly take on research activities such as walking, and writing manuscripts. And local government records their activities, creates manuscripts for printing by PC, prints maps, and distributes maps for transmitting information.

Their characteristic is changing map theme every year. For instance, their theme was “foreigner-friendly city” in 2004, “elderly-friendly city” in 2005, and in 2006, their theme will be “child-raising.” Because the theme changes every year, mapmaking members are not always the same and they solicit members who are interested in the theme of each year.

For mapmaker Mr. Kawai, the good thing is that he could have various meetings. Having such opportunity means meeting diversity of values and he could broaden his world. He is highly motivated and eager to continue his activities and invite more and more people to participate.

There are no updates on this project.

Aichi Cycle Green Map

Created by:

Past Mapmakers

</fieldset>

<fieldset class="collapsible collapsed"><legend>Map Details</legend>

About the Map:

They launched our project in June 2002, hoping to spread bicycle-based lifestyle. They thought philosophy of Green Map was consistent with theirs. They also thought Green Map’s method was fantastic because streets were not just dots and spread to lines, to areas.

Because there was a limit to represent all by original Green Map, they adopted only method and using icons all designed by themselves. Their free spirit and great footwork overlap the attraction of bicycle and their lifestyles.

The most pleasure for Mapmaker Mr. Kimura was some bicyclists told him that the map was exactly the same as the actual area when he visited bicycle rental shop at “Aichi EXPO 2005.”

　 The goal is to crate bicycle map of whole Nagoya City. No one in the world doesn’t create a bicycle map on two million city scale. Riding a bicycle leads to reduction of CO2 and they are acting for the purpose of providing people different modes of transportation, including automobiles, trains, bicycles, and walk, and spreading environmental-friendly lifestyle as a result.

There are no updates on this project.

Tagline/Slogan:

This is an ‘Access Map’ showing the easiest way for bicyclists to the event site of “Aichi EXPO 2005.” Although all the icons are original, we bring the philosophy and methods of Green Map.
