We are using GreenMap for creation of a mapping system for identification of bike trails, pedestrian urban walking trails, hiking trails, greenways, parks, scenic views and by-ways, waterways, enviromental amenities, green businesses and sustainable practices and other features, and the regional linkages between these elements, as a method of public education about these features and as a tool for navigation for bicyclists, pedestrian/hikers. The City of Easton is beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers, the Lehigh River and the Delaware River, the last undammed river east of the Mississippi River. The population within the City limits is approximately 26,000; Easton is part of the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, PA-NJ MSA approximately 800,000. The City's Environmental Advisory Council is adopting the GreenMap system as a method to create maps which will educate the population about the environmental features of the area, to publicize these features, encourage their exploration and enjoyment by area residents.
