This may be the smallest state in the US, but it was the first to officially join our project! This terrific Green Map was published in late November 1998, and has become an indispensable part of Rhode Island's eco-tourism promotion efforts. It was produced by the multi-agency RI Greenways Council, and features state-wide greenways and trails, scenic roads, watershed boundaries, major rivers and water bodies, natural resource and recreation areas, and cultural resources, including historic districts. Principal Planner George Johnson led the process and can be contacted for updated information about the Rhode Island Statewide Planning Program. New project leaders are sought for the Rhode Island Green Map.
