My primary intention in creating a Green Map for Syracuse, NY is to locate affordable retail, food, and lifestyle choices in the area for students and low-income families. Syracuse has immense potential to lead this country's green movement, especially in alternative energy and local, organic farming. I want residents to know about what their city has to offer and how they can make small choices towards a greener future. This project is also a way for me to give back to Syracuse University. I would like to make a printed version of this map so that it may be available to university students and visitors. Syracuse University and its neighboring institution, ESF (College of Environmental Science and Forestry) have an abundance of knowledge, resources and innovative minds who have the power to manipulate Syracuse into a national green site. I want to help Syracuse reach that goal.
