In the summer of 1999, North Brooklyn Recycle-A-Bicycle focused on the relationship between trasportation and open space. Community gardens are unique open spaces, reclaimed from illegal parking lots and dumping grounds.
A small band of students and volunteers scoured North Brooklyn for gardens and talked to community leaders about their neighborhoods.
