I'm a visual artist and this spring I will be planting varieties of corn native to the northeast in areas of Brooklyn that were historically Native American planting grounds. The gardens will be located in Boerum Hill and Canarsie. I'm creating a  map that will link these two gardens, neighborhoods and history. The map will indicate a bicycle route from one garden to the other. The map will point out along the way any points of historical and natural interest--for example, where there once was a pond, a village, a farm, an Indian pathway. This information us based in part on the maps from the book Indian Paths in the Great Metropolis.  In addition I plan to indicated along the route where there are community gardens and farmers markets.
