I am currently working with an after school environmental in a nearby school district for my graduate project at the University of Washington Tacoma. The students, approximate ages 12-14, know very little about their suburban community, school district and surrounding area. Most students have lived in the area less than 5 years and ride a bus to and from school or are transported by car. Most places are accessible by car except for a bus line that runs through the middle of the district. Along with their staff advisers, they have decided to focus their research on the area within their school district boundaries.
