Through Green Map it is hoped that communities in the South Wales valleys can exchange their cultural perception of landscape and immediate environment with a rural community in Eastern Uganda. Youth in both communities face social challenges, and can gain a increase understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural an ecological environment in which they inhabit.

The principle aim of PONT is to build on direct personal relationships to increase the capacity of communities in Mbale to govern effectively. Poverty alleviation is key, and the exchange of skills and knowledge enables development obstacles to be overcome and enriches the lives of those involved.

The south wales valleys represent some of the most economically challenged communities in the UK, and much an be learnt from the rich cultural heritage and community values in Uganda. As with all PONT projects the Green Mapping exercise should be a partnership process, with a two way exchange.
