Local Language Overview

The Sustainable Heights Green Map was initiated at a grassroots leadership event in early 2010 that started the Sustainable Heights Network. The group wanted to put together a project that would be a big picture view of our communities' assets, and also use the mapping process as a way to engage a lot of people in experiencing their neighborhoods and community in a new way.

Green Mapping will provide fun opportunities for our kids, community groups, and youth to learn what our assets are, how they're linked together, and how they contribute to our quality of life. We want to create a new sense of ownership and stewardship in the next generation while creating a map that can be used in a variety of ways by residents, policy makers, and visitors, alike.

We'll be promoting small mapping projects around town and each project will have its own goals and themes. If you have a group that would like to participate let us know.

Our map also allows online site suggestions, photo and videos posting, and comments. We welcome your participation!

Cleveland Heights and University Heights, Ohio are sister cities that share a school system and a library system. Our population of about 60,000 has been declining for many years. Shrinking cities need to work together, share scarce resources, good ideas, and active and enthusiastic people. They need to find ways to work with what they've got. The OpenGreenMap mapping project is a fun and proactive way to do just that. We hope you'll join us.
